An Adult Safe Hockey League Satellite League is owned and operated by Canlan Ice Sports but is played in a facility not owned, leased or managed by Canlan.

 

ASHL Satellite Leagues offer a safe and competitive environment to all Players and include many of the same benefits enjoyed by ASHL members in Canlan-owned facilities.  Features include our comprehensive Sports Accident Insurance coverage, prizing for Division and Facility Champs, online registration, plus real-time stats and schedules.

 

Teams who compete in an ASHL Satellites also have the opportunity to qualify for one of four ASHL Regional Championships.  Participating Teams at these events can qualify for the ASHN North American Championship.

Age Divisions

 

The ASHL restricts participation to Players aged 18 and older in Men’s, Women’s and CoEd divisions (note Players under the age of 19 are restricted in provinces and states where the age of majority is 19). The ASHL also offers age-restrictive divisions in the 30+, 40+, and 50+ categories.

 

 

To ensure divisional parity, the ASHL rates every Player—from pros to first-timers and everyone in between—into five basic skill levels:

 

A - Pro, Semi-Pro, Minor Pro (NHL, AHL, ECHL, UHL, CHL, WPHL, Europe), Women’s (or Girls) AA, AAA

B - Major Junior (QMJHL, OHL, WHL), University (NCAA, CIAU) or Senior (A, AA, AAA), Women’s (or Girls) B, BB, A

C - Junior B, Junior C, Rep (A, AA, AAA), Senior B, Senior C, Women’s (or Girls) C

D - House League, Select League

E - No experience with an organized league or started playing hockey as an adult

 

Every Player in every ASHL Satellite League completes this rating as a part of the online registration process and it becomes a permanent part of their profile.
